About the job:

Hi, we’re Canary… a New York City based startup that is transforming the way people connect to physical places, their family, and their community. We’re building the most consumer friendly “Internet of Things” device that has already won awards and is the most successful crowdfunded product on Indiegogo. We are building a platform that will scale to process more real time video, audio and sensor data than any consumer product on the market.  This is a massive real-time data problem that will change the way people connect to physical places.

About the Role:

You’ll be tasked with processing, storing and scaling one the fastest growing real time datasets of any physical product on the market. You will be responsible for designing and building our backend APIs and data processing pipeline. This is an incredibly important role as we scale our platform to hundreds of thousands of devices in the next 12 months.

What We Need You To Have:

• 3+ years experience building web applications
• Expert knowledge of at least one high level language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Go...)
• Experience modeling large and complex data sets
• Experience writing unit tests and working with testing frameworks (e.g., mocking/stubbing tools, test harnesses, etc.)
• Familiarity with all levels of the web application stack

Bonus Points:

• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Service
• Experience writing integration tests for distributed systems
• You’ve built and supported a RESTful API
• Love of Python
• Interest in connected devices and home automation
• Startup experience
