A day in the life of a Media Distillery DevOps Engineer:
You’ll start the day with a delicious coffee and catch-up with some of your team, maybe touching on achievements from the previous day and things you’re keen to try out during the week. As a group, we'll have a quick scrum to highlight what work is still pending and who’s taking the lead on what.
After this, you will use your experience to optimize our Elasticsearch clusters. Or maybe you’ll work with some team members and use your knowledge of Kubernetes to roll out a new product for our customers.
After a tasty lunch with the rest of the team, you’ll be able to spend time to keep our Cassandra cluster (NoSQL) in a healthy state or start looking at automating our platform with Terraform. Then you could use your grasp of cloud computing to help synchronizing data between our deployments in Chile and the Netherlands.
As an afternoon break, join a game of ping-pong or relax with some tea downstairs. And finally, end off with some time to focus on developing your programming skills by updating/creating some RESTful APIs, or creating a new storage client libraries.
Of course, as part of the team you will keep an eye on the system with our state of the art monitoring tools.
