We are Zalando’s ad-technology workbench and make use of a plethora of big data technology. Machine learning, high-level database modeling, metrics definition, trend analysis and report generation are crucial to our business and we’re looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with Big Data experience to take our venture to the next level.

YOU RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Be in-the-know of all  needs within the engineering teams and strive for excellence in providing tools and environments that foster  efficient and high quality development

• Ownership of all solutions for tool development, inclusive of deployment, mocking & test-isolation, etc.

• Development of new deployment solutions based on Capistrano & Docker and related technologies

• Monitoring, maintenance and continuous optimization of our existing infrastructure based on Linux and virtualized servers on AWS

YOUR PROFILE:

• You have an above average degree in IT or comparable practical experience

• You are curious about new technologies to use for developing new tools to increase performance of other teams

• You have experience in software development with one or more programming languages (Java/Python/Ruby/Javascript etc.)

• You are confident in the usage of Linux/Ubuntu

• Knowledge of software deployment tools (Ansible, Docker, Puppet, Chef)  is a plus

• You have worked with database management systems (e.g. MySQL ). Big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark or Cassandra are a major plu

• You have experience with building up highly scalable infrastructures using Haproxy, Cluster Management Systems, etc.

• Communicating and documenting in English is an easy task for you
