At Vectr, we know design connects people—we’ve experienced it firsthand—and we believe everyone should experience the almost indescribable feeling that comes from expressing your creative freedom through art and design. This belief drives everything we do.
We're a fast-growing company. Twice featured by Apple in 2017 already, we're backed by some of Silicon Valley's best VC's. We have a unique company culture. Our work style has evolved into a unique hybrid of remote work and in-person collaboration.
For the most part, we work remotely and make our own hours, but each Tuesday afternoon we gather in one of Taipei's many cafes. We'll also have ad hoc smaller meetings in cafes around the city during the week, if we need to get face-to-face. We’re an English-speaking team. Are you the Engineering Manager we're looking for?
We’re building creative software in the cloud (think ‘Adobe Killer’). Our first product, Vectr, is a collaborative vector graphics editor. We're making creative software collaborative, easy to learn, and enjoyable to use.
Design software shouldn’t bring people a sense of struggle, yet that’s exactly how the troublesome design software we grew up on made us feel. With their incredibly steep learning curve and counter-intuitive tools, they would deter our potential as designers rather than help us unleash it.
We currently work in a lightweight scrum, in two-week sprints. Most of our time is spent in Slack/GitHub.
Globally, Taiwan is the #1 ranked place to live abroad by expats. Taiwan is one of the friendliest and safest countries in the world. Taipei is home to the tastiest eats, the most convenient metro system, and the coolest cafes. The hustle and bustle of Taipei makes it easy to forget you’re on a tropical island, but breathtaking nature is a quick metro ride away.
Our team not only has a significantly higher relative standard of living than their counterparts in the Bay Area, but they also have more disposable income. If, for example, an SF engineer put $2.5K USD into their bank account every month, after paying rent and basic expenses, our team would put $3.5K USD into their bank account after paying the same basic expenses (this isn't a real example, but it illustrates the point).
