About the job:

Hi, we’re Canary… a NYC-based startup that helps people connect to their family, their community and their homes in new ways. Our first product is an award-winning all-in-one home security device that makes it easy to not just see, but understand what’s happening in your home from anywhere.

We’re looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer who is familiar with the process of automating events and managing configurations. As part of the Cloud Engineering team you will be working with all aspects of our presence on the Interwebs. This is an amazing opportunity to get in on the ground floor.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Automate software integration including builds, packaging and deployment tests.
• Independently collaborate with different teams.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Office tasks including backups, systems maintenance, etc.
• Develop and perform unit and integration testing.
• Support test environment: provide support for development and integration testing.
• Troubleshoot and provide solutions for system configurations.
• Improve development and integration process tools
• Support production: provide production support on released software and on integrated messaging software

What We Need You To Have:

• 4 year computer science related degree
• 5+ years experience
• Shell / Python scripting experience
• Some Unix sys admin experience
• In-depth Ubuntu Linux knowledge
• Amazon Web Services
• Development using source control

Bonus skills:

• Enthusiastic and optimistic mind-set
• Thrive in a start-up style environment

Experience with:

• Python or other programming language
• Saltstack or other configuration automation
• Jenkins or Continuous Integration
• Non-relational databases
