San Francisco, CA, United States

Posted on Mar 17 2015 (over 2 years ago)

At Affirm we believe the financial industry is fundamentally broken. Not only is the core infrastructure built with technology from the 1970s, but there are a dwindling number of people who say "I trust my bank to look out for me". It doesn’t have to be this way, and it’s our mission to fix this problem. We are using technology to re-imagine and re-build core parts of financial infrastructure to enable cheaper, friendlier and more transparent financial products and services that improve lives. We are based in San Francisco; founded by Max Levchin (founding CTO PayPal), Jeff Kaditz (CDO DeNA/ngmoco), and Nathan Gettings (founding CTO of Palantir); and looking for exceptionally talented and passionate people to join us on our mission.

In this role you are primarily responsible for building our own proprietary financial platform which is central to our long term company mission. It provides a single API and set of abstractions that will enable us and our partners to develop any existing financial product, as well as allow for room for innovative new financial products and services to emerge.

  • Secure the platform.
  • Analyze/debug performance issues across distributed services.
  • Design, implement and extend core platform services to enable new products and features to be built.
  • Build 3rd party developer APIs and tools.

  • A passion for our mission.
  • Expert knowledge in one of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Java.
  • Experience building/operating real-time distributed web services.

  • SaltStack
  • Continuous deployment and automated testing frameworks
  • WebApp/JavaScript/AngularJS
  • Mobile development
  • Developer API development/documentation
  • AWS or other PaS frameworks
