Who we are

Catawiki hosts weekly auctions for collectors. Examples of items that we have auctioned off in the past include a lock of Napoleon’s hair, a mammoth skeleton, various large meteorites, and the most expensive Lego set ever produced. Our website is visited millions of times every month by our registered users worldwide.

Though we only started a few years ago, our mission to make unique items available to everyone is already becoming reality. The Catawiki offices across Europe house a dynamic, fast-growing and open organisation. Catawiki has a real ‘hands-on’ mentality, with a casual and friendly atmosphere. We share a strong team-spirit, and all of our inspired employees are motivated to use their own personal talents and skills as part of a whole.

We are very proud to be the first Benelux company to have received an investment from the famous Accel Partners (first venture capital investors in Facebook, as well as Dropbox, Spotify, and Etsy).

What you will do

As a back-end developer at Catawiki, you are the hero of millions. Not only will users across the world praise you for new features, your colleagues will love you for making their work more efficient. You will achieve this by working together closely in product driven innovation teams. These are multi-disciplinary teams made up of front-end developers, back-end developers, a designer, a data analyst and a product owner, ideal for getting things done and doing it fast. We love A/B-testing and automated testing which allow us to do multiple releases per day.

You will be working with Ruby on Rails, nginx, MySql, Redis, Solr, jQuery, and Git.

You’ll be part of an agile development team of 20 developers (and counting).

Who you are

A Senior Software Developer with good communicative skills, a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in information technology, and minimum of four years of experience in software development.

Ideally you are an experienced Rails Developer, but no worries if you haven’t developed in Rails yet. We will help you become a Rails-ninja. What’s most important is that you are an experienced OO developer who enjoys developing software, and are keen on learning new languages and frameworks. So experience with Python, Java or C# is also valued by us.

You have worked on high-traffic websites and you have a lot of experience with relational databases (preferably MySQL). Ideally you also have experience with A/B-testing and conversion optimization.

What we offer

An exciting job in a young, fast-growing, dynamic & international organisation. We offer an excellent salary and suitable terms of employment, as well as a company Macbook Pro. Naturally, compensation for relocating can also be provided.
