As Tech Lead you will play a key role in our Bet tribe. You’ll be leading a multi-disciplinary squad of highly skilled individuals with a mission to deliver the best experience to Sky Bet's Customers, specifically focusing on the mobile development of our SkyBet apps.

What you will do….

Our Native squad is our App squad, responsible for the building and maintenance of a number of Apps across the business including the successful SkyBet iOS and Android Apps. You will lead the squad, ensuring we get the right solution to the problems to be solved by the business.

Due to our mobile focus we drive the majority of revenue through our apps, making the Native App squad a critical part of our business. We want you to build the best user experience in our industry and maintain our position as a clear leader in mobile.

This is a hands-on role, allowing you to embed best practices and drive the technical vision for your team to build on. As a senior member of the tribe, you will interact with other Tech Leads, Engineering Managers and Architects to help define and implement the overall technical strategy for skybet.com.

How you will do it…

• Be the technical authority for your squad, responsible for the delivery and upkeep of a number of hybrid native/web Apps across the business and owning the implementation of all aspects of your services.
• Lead the agile practices within the squad, creating a motivated and self-sufficient team
• Create a vision for your squad, aligned with the wider business, which you clearly communicate to your team members
• Use your technical expertise in collaboration with colleagues in Product, Commercial and Marketing to identify opportunities in increasing performance, productivity and stability across the website
• Work with the Product Owner to create a roadmap, prioritizing the work which delivers the best value for the tribe and ultimately the customer
• Work with the Engineering Manager to hire the best people to help achieve your vision
• Analyse the squad’s performance and effectiveness of your work and the impact it has for customers
• Lead the inception of new work, clearly communicating the benefits for customers and the business to gain shared understanding with your team
• Own the operational readiness of services owned by your squad, reviewing quality of service and non-functional requirements to ensure systems are fit for purpose

• Our engineers often work closely with colleagues from all disciplines and all levels of experience so a high level of interpersonal skill is important to us
• We expect candidates to be from an iOS Mobile Development background or Android Mobile Development background or both.
  • Our iOS tech stack is Objective-C, Swift, XCode 9 with knowledge of WKWebView and familiarity of the latest iOS SDK, iOS10/iOS11 and CocoaPods for dependency
  • Our Android tech stack is Java and Kotlin with knowledge of Gradle.
  • We don’t expect you to be an expert in all these things, but expect a polyglot attitude to technology.
• We expect candidates to have a keen interest in the latest mobile development trends
• We expect candidates to have an understanding of HTTP protocols, requests and responses as well as experience of using git source control
• We value previous experience developing for high-demand and high-availability environments
