Talan is a French consulting firm with more than 1000 consultants worldwide, and locations on four continents (seven countries). We specialize in IT Support and Development, as well as the redesign of business processes. Our NY team consists of 25 young technology professionals working at our client sites in Manhattan. The successful candidate will join our US subsidiary, a 25 person team, and will be detached to our client site on medium term projects (1 year minimum).


We are looking for junior to senior trade and production support engineers, to work on different clients activities: Equity Derivatives (warrants mainly), Equity Flow, and High Frequency Trading. As the Trade Support Engineer, you will be responsible for operating the team’s strategies during market hours, which will involve working closely with the team's traders and with Infrastructure and Systems teams. In this high-performance environment, immediate awareness of trading and systems issues and swift responses are essential. The role is business oriented as well as technical. It involves front-line sales, trader and dealer application support. Technical knowledge is required for diagnosis of trading floor support. Strong interaction with the local IT teams: Network, System, Database and Business team will ensure the best responsiveness for the users. Since a lot of the systems are global, the duties of this role involves daily to weekly interactions with peers in the support team in other regions as well as the developer in Europe. The scope of systems includes applications developed in-house, vendor trade processing platform and external connectivity, as well as customized vendor solution.


  • Monitoring and Documenting the systems - Develop new monitoring tools when required
  • Participate in Test and Roll-out of Trading applications (new version or software)
  • Operating and monitoring existing trading strategies
  • Adjusting trading and risk parameters to suit market conditions
  • Developing tools and scripts to conduct more detailed post-trade analysis
  • Reconciling PNL for trading strategies with internal accounting
  • Gathering data for new and existing markets.

Competencies Required:

  • Hands-on knowledge of UNIX, LINUX, NT, SQL required, PHP, javascript
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and shell command-line tools
  • Basic programming (C/C++) and scripting (Perl/Python/Shell/Awk) skills
  • Database: MSSQL, Sybase, MySQL, be able to do simple queries
  • Good understanding of networking
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • The ability to notice, analyze, and debug problems quickly and effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in trading and the financial markets
  • Must be a strong communicator
  • Must be a good mindset ( proactive, inquisitive, adapt quickly, and have the ability to work autonomously)
  • Knowledge in mongoDB, Hadoop, Javascript, PHP is not required, but is a plus
  • Financial experience is not required but is a plus.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
