Booking.com BV is looking for a User Researcher that will be given the freedom to make meaningful and measurable improvements to our top rated, rapidly growing products. Your user insights about our apps and websites will help the business understand opportunities and challenges for growing Booking.com on all platforms. Most of your concrete advises will be centered on the optimization of user experience for the visitors of our website.

You will be responsible for deciding what method to use, which data to capture, and how to interpret and communicate the results to your colleagues, all done in a fast paced and agile environment. Your personal toolkit is composed of a variety of methods, including, but not limited to, focus groups, traditional one-on-one usability interviews, surveys, and data analysis. You will focus on short-term conversion and commission and long-term customer loyalty.

You will be traveling occasionally across the world to conduct research and will be working with and international team of usability and analytics specialists, product owners, designers and developers on a daily basis. This position is located in our headquarters based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

B.skilled

  • You have at least 3-4 years of (hands-on) qualitative user and usability research experience within e-Commerce, embedded in more extensive general market research experience.
  • You have broad experience of mainly qualitative research methods
  • You are also familiar with quantitative research, things like A/B testing, surveys, etc. In other words: you are data driven. You are persuasive without being authoritative
  • You’re comfortable working with numbers and know when research data is statistically reliable.
  • Your background is ideally in psychology, sociology or interaction design.
  • You know how to influence a wide variety of audiences and bring across your findings in a pleasant yet convincing way.
  • You have experience in line with the above, and within an e-Commerce environment. You can hit the ground running and be proactive within a very dynamic, vibrant, international and innovative environment. Ultimately, you truly care about improving our user’s experience.

  • Initiate and execute research to discover opportunities for concrete website optimization experiments.
  • Provide in-depth research insights and communicate the most relevant industry and competitive insights to stakeholders in all departments.
  • Help frontend colleagues prioritize and refine their projects by providing the user perspective.
